Some hotels stand out for their setting before you ever see a room. Eagle View Lodge was one of those places for me.

The setting is the reason to come
The rooms are spread across a hillside, with garden paths connecting the property and sweeping views over Kigali. Walking from reception toward the rooms feels like moving through a garden, with the city opening up below you.
This is a place I’d consider for travelers who want a quieter setting before or after a busy Rwanda itinerary.
The lodge is on KK 30 Avenue, roughly 8–9 kilometers from Kigali International Airport. Its location makes it worth considering for an arrival or departure night, although transfer times will depend on traffic.
Plan on arranging transportation.
This isn’t a hotel I’d choose for walking out to restaurants and shops. The lodge offers airport transfers, and for clients with several activities planned, I would arrange a driver.

Which room would I choose?
The top-floor signature suite was the highlight of my tour and the first room I’d ask about when booking.
The property offers several accommodations, including studios and a penthouse with a private hot tub.
Views, layouts, and hot-tub access vary, so choosing the right room matters here. I’d confirm the exact category and its features before reserving.
The lodge also lists a spa, restaurant, bar, and garden. For an itinerary that includes gorilla trekking or long drives, the prospect of a massage and a quiet afternoon is appealing.

Who I’d recommend it for
Eagle View Lodge would be on my shortlist for couples, honeymooners, and travelers who value scenery and a slower pace. For clients who prefer a central hotel, I’d also consider the Kigali Marriott.
My strongest impression was the beauty of the property. My 4.5/5 rating reflects that tour experience, with a full assessment of the overnight stay still to come.
