Hotel website: The Lodge at Spruce Peak
Returning to a hotel tells you more than a single stay can. After visiting The Lodge at Spruce Peak over four years, I’ve found plenty of reasons to keep coming back.
I’m Gabriel, a Fargo-based travel advisor and founder of Erons Travel. The lodge remains one of my choices for a Stowe getaway, with comfortable accommodations, warm service, and a setting that makes it easy to enjoy the mountains.

A mountain location with plenty nearby
The lodge is at 7412 Mountain Road, at the base of Spruce Peak. Its slopeside setting is a major draw for ski trips, and the surrounding village adds dining, shops, seasonal activities, and the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center.
Burlington’s airport is roughly 50 minutes away by car, depending on traffic and weather.
Accommodations vary by category, with features such as:
- Gas fireplaces
- Kitchenettes or full kitchens
- Private balconies
I’d choose the room around your group’s needs, especially for a longer stay.

Consistent service, with a few missed details
Across my visits, I’ve found the staff warm and responsive and the facilities well maintained. On the stay described here, check-in was smooth and my car was retrieved promptly.
I booked a Hyatt Privé rate and also held World of Hyatt Globalist status. What applies to any reservation depends on the program terms and availability, so I confirm the details for each booking.
There were a couple of smaller misses:
- My name was misspelled on the management welcome note.
- The pullout couch in our Ridgeline Suite wasn’t prepared for our party of three. We had to ask for it to be made up.
Neither issue defined the stay, but I’d confirm bedding arrangements in advance when booking for a family or group.

Dinner and the hot tub were highlights
Dinner at Tipsy Trout was excellent. The food was delicious and arrived at a comfortable pace. It was a highlight of the visit.
Another favorite moment was sitting in the hot tub on a cold night, watching steam rise into the mountain air. Experiences like that are part of what brings me back.

Who I’d recommend it for
The Lodge at Spruce Peak is a strong fit for ski vacations, family getaways, and travelers who want a comfortable mountain base with dining and activities close by.
My 4.5/5 rating reflects several years of positive experiences, with room for more consistent attention to the smaller details.
